The Art Forger (Hardcover / Paperback)
Barbara A. Shapiro

A good story, based on the real life theft of 13 invaluable paintings from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990.  Young artist Claire Roth makes ends meet by reproducing (not forgin!) replicas of famous works of art for wealthy clients, her specialty, Degas.  The owner of an art gallery where she has been desperately trying to get her original art work shown approaches her with a deal.  He wants her to reproduce a Degas painting, telling her it is a copy of a painting that was stolen in the Gardner heist.  Or is it?  Good information about art, some love, drama and intrigue thrown in to make it a page turner.
