The Church of Marvels (Hardcover)
Leslie Parry

This intriguing debut novel will be published 5/5/15.  It is unlike anything I have read before, and has enjoyed great publicity, including a review in People Magazine, so you know..........

Here is the full title, on the front cover - "New York City 1895!  From the sideshows of Coney Island to the Tenements and Opium Dens of the lower East Side to an Asylum on Blackwell's Island where two sisters, an enigmatic orphan, a mortician's bride, an assortment of freaks, and a newborn baby come together in The Church of Marvels! " Sounds like fun, doesn't it?  It is!  Two sisters in a circus family start the book off, following a fire which separates them. As one looks for the other, the journey takes fantastic twists and turns, introducing the reader to people you probably didn't know existed.  This is obviously not erudite literature, but would be a great vacation read or escapist novel.  As this is a debut, I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.
